Jeanites Travel to France

St. Jean's kicked off its newly-established travel abroad program with an enriching, adventure-filled trip to France—homeland of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, foundress of the Congregation of Notre Dame. For nine days over Easter break, Jeanites explored the beauty, history, and culture of France, from the iconic streets of Paris and grandeur of Versailles to the picturesque Loire Valley and poignant shores of Normandy.

The trip began in Paris, where a surprising and meaningful moment greeted the group: as they were heading to the Notre-Dame Cathedral for a group photo, they stumbled upon a restaurant named “Marguerite”—a nod to their spiritual connection. The group explored the artistic and historical gems of Montmartre, including the Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur and the Carrousel de Saint-Pierre—and the vibrant Latin Quarter. A guided tour of Paris took them past world-famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre-Dame Cathedral. They enjoyed lunch and shopping along the Champs-Élysées, marveled at masterpieces in the Louvre, and strolled through the tranquil Jardin du Palais Royal and Les Halles. Their time in the capital concluded with a scenic cruise along the Seine River.

Beyond Paris, the group visited the Gothic architecture of Chartres Cathedral and toured several renowned Loire Valley châteaux. Easter Mass was celebrated at the breathtaking Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey. In Normandy, students walked the cobbled streets of St. Malo and reflected at historic World War II sites including Pointe du Hoc, the American Cemetery, Bayeux, and the Caen Memorial. The trip concluded with a visit to the opulent Palace and Gardens of Versailles.

St. Jean’s travel abroad program will continue to expand students’ horizons with trips to Costa Rica and Italy planned for 2026, followed by trips to Spain and Japan in 2027.
